Thanks for putting out all of this information in a relatively quick manner!
Now they can keep all 4 cars next year good for joe and the team
Huge Win for Chase Briscoe and SHR.
I hope this is going to be a competition to Motorsport Games in making NASCAR games…
It’d be really interesting to see competition in NASCAR’s Gaming Community.
Plus, when there’s NASCAR games, I know will come eNASCAR, and Esports in itself.
Sorry to say but keep dreaming
This is just to fill the gap of what will eventually be the next nascar simcade game (a long time)
I don’t know. The guys making it made the NHRA game, and that was a very mixed bag. And they made the absolute travesty that is Monster Jam Crush It. I’m sure the game will be good, but I’d be careful
I just want a decent NASCAR game, not a kart game. Maybe it’s a start to something beautiful, but given the late track record of this sport and It’s games I’m very doubtful. Hopefully someone is screaming at them that the demand for a nascar game is insanely high, just not this one.
So basically, they made Mario Kart for NASCAR from the looks of it.
I agree with the Briscoe and Herbst crew chief changes for now. They need to experiment to decide what will work best with their team right now for their current drivers.
I still am not sure about their supposed decision to hire Josh Berry to replace Harvick, as I think that a veteran is what they need behind that car to help the team as a whole grow like Harvick’s been doing, but I’ll still keep an open mind on that for now, especially as new crew chiefs might mean better results.
I’m not too sure of what to think of the Gibbs ownership story right now. Whenever another major investor enters NASCAR, it usually comes with uncertainty, and considering that Gibbs is basically Toyota for NASCAR now (they’re basically the only Toyota team until LMC next year), uncertainty might not be what they need. However, sometimes partnerships like this can bear meaningful fruit. So, if Coach Gibbs is willing to keep an open mind about new ventures like this, who knows how many new sponsors and fans we could attract with this. There are benefits, but also a lot of risk.
Sum it up, there’s pros and cons with both major changes to two of NASCAR’s most successful teams this week. I just hope that there are more pros than cons that come out of these bold moves, especially for a team that needs a battery change like SHR does right now.
Even though Berry would be a rookie he’s still a veteran driver
@Spencer Wrightthey need someone who’s more of a veteran than Berry. Yes he’s got the short track/late model seat time and skills but he still doesn’t have a whole lot of cup series track time. Not hating, and not saying he isn’t a veteran of racing overall, but I wouldn’t lump him in with “veterans” like Truex, Hamlin, Harvick, etc. I hope Berry can turn SHR around but only time will tell!
23XI is also a Toyota Cup team. Legacy Motor Club, (silly name for a nascar team) will be a third Toyota Cup team.
There already was a nascar Mario kart game. Nascar kart racing on wii
@Tim Childers true, but they also get most of their equipment from the Gibbs Racing shop still, don’t they? So, if that’s still true as of this year, either way, that means that Gibbs controls the playing field for Toyota in NASCAR.
Nascar 06 was peak for me.. absolutely loved that game. Still have my copy
I commented elswewhere that Joe Gibbs selling is all about the ownership, He’s 82 and maybe would have already had JD or Coy take over primary ownership, but sadly that is not possible anymore. Until his grandchildren are older and gather more experience, he wants the team to have experienced ownership in place. He has leadership in place but it might be a decade before the Gibbs grandchildren are ready.
He’s 82? Damn he’s looking very good for age.
It’s an odd thing with JD & Coy
100% agree.
@SpreadCoach Gibbs, Rick Hendrick, Bobby Allison, Kyle Petty. Scary to think about how many big names in NASCAR lost one or more sons under tragic circumstances. Joe’s sons were both due to health, of course, but way before their time. Very sad.
@Roger Batesyou have made a comment that I’m not sure you can back up we know JD past of health issues as far as I know nothing has been released on a cause of death has been given on Coy Gibbs so why would you make a comment like that.
something you didn’t touch on, since Joe Gibbs is now a part owner of the commanders, and FedEx sponsors them, do you think maybe FedEx was involved in continuing their sponsorship with the #11 with this deal? It certainly didn’t worsen the odds but this may have helped open up more discussions
Definitely possible! A good example of how Joe Gibbs expanding his business portfolio may help with finding sponsorship.
@Eric Estepp The one thing you need to remember that with the deaths of both of his sons, there is no one left alive in the family that has the experience to run the organization, so out siders would have to been brought in or as he did sell off a minority stake that most likely with his death become a majority stake.
@John CoffeltAssuming that the Gibbs family does sale the majority of the team after Joe either retires or passes away then we’ll have to find out of the one who bought the minority of the team could later buy all of it or if someone else would. Or if any of the Gibbs family would still be willing to run the team when that happens.
Good point. Guess this means Fedex is staying indefinitely. Or until the lease runs up on Fedex Field. (I live 15 minutes away from that thing here in MD.
50$ for a video game is actually a good price nowadays. Most games are $60-$80. I hope NASCAR is trying to get out of this MSG exclusivity deal soon.
Same
Note at 9:13 – My mistake on Heather Gibbs. I meant to say she is the MOTHER of Ty Gibbs. My apologies for not catching that error.
I’m enthused to try the new game out definitely I got excited a bit it’s been a while…. And good luck to joe Gibbs
Noticed that lol just a fluke on words you still are considered my my best information on nascar keep it up
It’s 2023. Who knows at this point
@KFB nation rowdy going all way he’s gonna prove his stature 3rd cup championship
A very underrated NASCAR game for PS2 was NASCAR: Dirt to Daytona. Super fun game and you can still race a Pontiac.
I played that game a lot back in the day!!!
In the cover shot of the new NASCAR video game, it looks VERY MUCH like Lightning McQueen while being careful not to step on any trademark/copyright toes. Count me out.
I hope this is not the end for Joe Gibbs in racing. Crafty business guys can get to be 100% owner in a few moves.
I assume the reason there’s probably no manufacturers, teams, or drivers is bc Motorsports Games has the license.
Yup
Classic msg
Do you think Kyle Busch leaving might have been one of the reasons Joe Gibbs made that decision?
As you said, it could open the door for new sponsors in the future, and I doubt Gibbs ever wants to be put in a similar situation in the future where one of his drivers leaves because there’s an issue finding new sponsors.
Could be. My guess is that, while Joe Gibbs wants to keep JGR in the family, his original succession plan is tragically no longer possible. He’s 80 years and likely wants to keep his options open.
And Ty Gibbs is too young to run the team, and he’s probably going to have a 20+ season career
Joe Gibbs is about to be a minority owner of the New Jersey Devils? What? As a life long hockey fan, this is truly interesting. I’ve had a soft spot for the Devils since Martin Brodeur, Scott Niedermayer, and Scott Stevens were playing, so seeing the owner of my favorite NASCAR Team own part of them is pretty cool!
I think a lot of people don’t realise how little a team owner does in day to day operations
Maybe nowadays but somewhere the late Alan Kulwicki is saying: “hold my beer”
Back in the early 2000’s for PS2 the best Nascar game ever came out called “Dirt to Daytona”. Still the best Nascar game ever made still to this day, still got it, and still play it. It’s a game where u start out on the dirt with a mid 80’s Chevy Monte Carlo when u win money u make your car better an faster then when you get enough money u move up to dirt late model, then to pavement with the truck series, on to Busch, ultimately making it to the Nascar Cup Series. I’m on my twentieth year in cup series. U really gotta set your car up with spring rates, wedge, air pressure psi, and different shock compounds. It takes a long time to figure it all out but when u do u can really get good, it’s a good learning tool to know how to set a race car up. It’s just awesome!!
I like those type of NASCAR arcade games, NASCAR Rumble, NASCAR Kart Racing, NASCAR Unleashed are very fun to play and drive and i hope this game be also great to play
I know many people wont like beacuse isnt a realistic game, but considering that Simulator license is exclusive to Motorsport Games, this is the cloest the young people will get to NASCAR
