I think we’ve seen the best of Chase. Larson and Willy B are carrying Hendrick. Nice guy, decent driver, caught a great break in 2020 when Harvick had his issues. Hope he can get a couple more wins.

Man, Chase Elliott can’t catch a break. He is most likely beating himself about the way this season has gone for him. Every driver has at least one bad season.

Go look at all his finishes this season. He’s doing better than you think considering he missed like 8 races. He just doesn’t have a win
@stog his best finishes have come mostly from pit strategy and some luck. He has not shown any raw speed at all.
@Eric Dorsey I agree he’s been slow. Again not his fault. He actually seems to be over performing in bad equipment.

@Bradon Krimminger top 5 is irrelevant for CE9. He requires a win, or he doesn’t make the playoffs.
No pressure
When you miss multiple races, you put yourself behind the 8 ball in points. Why did he miss multiple races? He had to go snowboarding. Forget the multimillion dollar investment. CE9 had to fling himself down a mountain.
When you come back on track and lose your temper, Nascar sits you for a race. Turns out CE9 isn’t allowed to just run people over. More points lost.
When you F up your entire season, you press. You press hard, because you need to win over the next four races, one of which is Pocono. Can’t count on Daytona, so you need a win.
Why? So far behind on points, there’s almost no way to point your way into the playoffs. He might make up the points, but so will the 6 drivers ahead of him.
So it is must win territory. No pressure.
Qualifying, wherein you drive the car and hit your marks. When you press, you make mistakes.
So he presses. And spins all by himself, during qualifying. Surprised he hasn’t blamed Chastain or Hamlin. They were throwing him stink eye!

Well said, he’s been unfocused this year and his mistakes have carried over week to week. Managed some good finishes but in those finishes he couldn’t get stage points and lucked out with pit strategy. But otherwise I have not heard the phrase chase looks fast out there.
