With this DQ, Blaney now must win Homestead or Martinsville in order to advance.
56 points below the cutline cannot be easily made up.

Yeah, I cannot see how the other playoff drivers will perform badly enough for two solid finishes to save Blaney now. I’d be shocked if he finishes within 30 points of the cutoff without a win at this point. The only thing that could potentially give him a pass from a must win is if a couple more playoff drivers not named Larson get DQ’d. Even then, not going to be easy.

I feel bad for both Blaney and Harvick getting DQ’d

What if the NASCAR playoffs were to begin four weeks/four races earlier, and the round of 16, 12, and 8 stay the same chaotic with elimination… buttt, the final four that advance battle it out FOUR RACES left whoever is a top of the standings is the CHAMPION!

ROGERRRR PENSKEEEEEEEEE! October 16, 2023 at 5:14 pm

How about this: 16 drivers, 16 races.

Round of 16: Pocono, Indy Oval, Richmond, Michigan

Round of 12: Daytona, Darlington, Atlanta, Watkins Glen

Round of 8: Bristol, Kansas, Talladega, Roval

Championship: Vegas, Miami, Martinsville, Phoenix

Points from Round of 8 carry over into Championship Four. Winning a race no longer gets a championship. Win and your in is removed. Reg. season finale now Chicago Street Race.

Better than the 1 race takes the title setup. I’d have an elimination at Race 5 to cut the field from 16 to 8. It’s a 5 race, 8 team sprint to the finish!

Blaney getting disqualified hurts. Hopefully, an appeal will clear things up.

Unpopular opinion, but at the moment, I’m starting to wonder if Truex and Small need to start thinking about looking at other options within JGR, if they can’t get their act together, and find stability. Truex has always been an emotional person when it comes to dealing with racing, but if things continue to go more bumpy here and there, and they really drop the ball within the next week to maybe even as far as next season… maybe it’s time to part ways. I know Truex is running on borrowed time here, as his retirement season is approaching, but maybe a crew chief change could benefit him before things get worse.

Las Vegas has so many lines. As does Nashville in a weird way. I would love to see the finals on these tracks.

The switch from Homestead to Phoenix was likely because the previous generation car ran better at Phoenix than at Homestead.

The cynic in me says that NASCAR will switch it back to Homestead after some change makes the racing better at Phoenix again.

Hey Eric, earlier today it was revealed Corey Heim will continue to be in the TriCon Garage #11 next season
Edit: Just wanted to give you a heads up

The biggest issue I see is that to run good at Homestead you have to be run right against the wall, why because is the faster lane and Kyle Larson is the best. The finale should be at the Charlotte Oval imo

I would love for all (or at least the NBC races) to be shown on Peacock. I subscribe for Indycar, but I usually cancel at the end of the season. If they included the full back-half of the NASCAR season, I’d keep my sub going.

Also, as a Blaney fan… I’m just sad.

You know it all depends on the other drivers and how they finish the next two races if he finishes way better than they do that it’s not in a must-win situation especially with how Truex has been going and the rounds she knows somebody else could get to she gets ahead of him for not getting stage points either you can get some mostly Schleich still wide open that’s what the playoffs format is for and get smacked stage points in both races he could be in the round before don’t ever say it’s a must-win all the time that’s what I like about the playoffs something could happen to the cars ahead of him to make his point deficit better

If you listen to the Stacking Pennies episode with Ben Kennedy it sounds like the Fontana project is still under way. They are working with IRacing to simulate the best track possible.

Feel bad for Blaney but was likely in a must win anyway. The TV deal should’ve been done by now but I’d rather have them take their time with it and get it right.

If you think that Nascar doesn’t already have a big marketing firm working on the things that you just mentioned, you are smoking your socks. They have to know that they have to grow their audience to survive and I am sure that they are working on it. The TV people should be doing the same thing.
