The NASCAR and Honda rumor mill is in full effect after recent comments came of Honda’s future with IndyCar possibly leading them to further Formula 1 investments or just straight up going over to NASCAR as a 4th OEM. While nothing will be known until more than likely 2025 or 2026 this has the potential of being the biggest story in American motorsports in this decade. So, is Honda coming to NASCAR?

Do you think Honda will come over to NASCAR in the future?
Looks possible
Could be. We’ll find out soon enough.
Only if IndyCar doesn’t get their BS under control.
I mean the problem is it might be too fast like dodge
If they do, having Honda in NASCAR would be quite a big deal. And hopefully they could make as big of a splash as Dodge did back in 2001 by getting all of their entries into the Daytona 500 field, something that Toyota failed to do back in 2007.
A big deal indeed, but for terrible reasons. NASCAR is American born, and having too many non-American manufacturers in NASCAR makes it too global and too un-American. In other words, a F1 stock car class. In more other words, not NASCAR
Also, not one of Honda’s cars are at least CREATED in the US like the Tundra was back in 2004 (American thought, using Japanese tech, assembled in the US). Great promotion for their “random acts” but they need a good team as well
@@MarvelMTsgotta change
@@MarvelMTsyour argument is the reason why nascar is dying. Its still solely catering to american audiences who are slowly losing interest. Nascar needs to go the f1 route and cater its sport to a worldwide audience. And one of the ways to introduce nascar to a worldwide audience is by bringing in another non-american OEM. Stop with these gatekeeping bullshit honestly.
@@norandomstuff Correction 1: Audiences are losing interest because of bull-crap changes like stages, stage cautions, convoluted Clash and All Star formats and playoff championships. Aka, the exact stuff that traditional sports did and what NASCAR avoided like the plague in the 90s and 2000s. Audiences left because NASCAR became the very thing they used to counter. Correction 2: It’s not gatekeeping if it’s the truth. You don’t have to like it, you don’t have to agree with it, but you do have to live with it.
While at the Martinsville Spring race in 2021 my friend Justin Hughes and I witnessed 2 very officially dressed Honda representatives walking around post-race. It was an Asian man and a white woman, about 5 minutes apart from each other. They weren’t just some fans wearing a Honda shirt and hat and randomly there (because that literally makes zero sense).. You could tell by their demeanor that they were all business.
Since that night, I have firmly believed that Honda is dipping their toes in NASCAR, in some way, shape, or form. I bet they do come to NASCAR to go against Toyota for who the best “import” brand is.
Just my theory!
While drawing the ire of Ford and Chevy. I can see the Vegas race being renamed to Happy Honda Days 400. Or Richmond fall, or Darlington spring
This won’t be the first time Honda is rumored to enter NASCAR. But it honestly wouldn’t surprise me. VW is another wildcard they are the #1 selling brand in the world and are looking to clean up their image after the whole dieselgate thing…….
@@americanbadass88
VW is a stretch, since they are going full in on electric racing after dieaelgate.
Audi (a brand also owned by VW) would be more likely to enter, but I don’t see why they would enter.
If Honda does come to Nascar, I’ll scream. I’ve wanted a Honda Accord Cup Car to race the Camry for years. I would’ve loved to see the Gen 7-9 Accord because they were so good looking, but I’ll take the modern one too
@@ArnoldTriyudho That would actually be cool, but for xfinity
But the question is, which team will bite? Right now, every single team has finalized their manufacturers for next season, and depending how it goes, it can very well stay that way and be near-impossible for them to enter, this ain’t 2002 when money was plenty and they can start their own team like that
Lets gooooo!!!!!!
Would LOVE to see Honda in NASCAR!
Honda would be cool to see in NASCAR. Even better if Andretti comes along with them.
Bring us more engine suppliers. Incorporate WC points system with winner bonuses.
Between RFK, Trackhouse, SHR & RCR there’s enough Cup teams that have the ability to be the premier team of an OEM that are available to switch that a 4th OEM makes sense for NASCAR.
RFK is deeply embedded with Ford, so that’s out. Trackhouse is unlikely to switch given how Melon Man does, and Dale would flip if he saw his car go foreign
@@S.K.R.E.Inc. RFK was reported by Adam Stern to be courting Dodge as recently as last year, it’s entirely possible they’re the ones that switch and then someone like Penske takes over Ford’s Yates motor program.
There is no way on Gods green earth that RCR bails on Chevy/GM not a chance as for SHR they would since they bailed from GM after Tony pitched a fit in 08 when JGR went Toyota so yeah….
Honda would be good for NASCAR. Also would like to see Dodge come back and possibly have Cadillac in NASCAR as well with Andrettii Motorsports.
Dodge, after discontinuing their cars, is never coming back at all. Cadillac will probably go the way of Pontiac (at least in NASCAR) seeing as how they sell on the upscale market like Subaru
I’d really like to see them come to Nascar. I’d actually like to see more manufactures come to the sport. I think the more that come, the better the competition gets. I’d still like to see Dodge come back too, but that probably won’t happen.
Not with the Italians owning them and now that they discontinued their cars in favor of electric muscle
I’d love to see NASCAR become an OEM proving ground again. Make it so that the OEM’s compete.
I’d love to see a nee manufacturer but i believe it’s more important to fix the racing product right now. Not raising the hp doesn’t help.
Well, if they take the plunge it’ll be a welcome change of pace from the same three players we’ve had since 2012 and give other OEMs an incentive to entertain the idea at the least.
I think if they get Yuki Tsunoda in 2026 at Aston Martin when the new engine regulations kick in F1 I think they will go all in with him for obvious reasons. NASCAR would only be a thing if electric race cars get a huge boost . Who knows but as far as the next 2-3 years I see them totally going behind F1
I’m definitely open to more manufacturer competition in Nascar. I’m disappointed that Dodge hasn’t tried to come back, and I’m amazed Chevrolet didn’t pull out after their 2008 bankruptcy.
I don’t know they went bankrupt???
@@noahmielke2148yeah GM filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy
@@IanPerez2000_YT GM was bailed out by the US government
@@marcforget33 thanks for the correction
I’ve always said that if Dodge doesn’t come back to NASCAR, then I wanna see either Honda, Nissan, or both come to NASCAR and see what would happen
I’m leaning with Nissan on this one, they have the Frontier for Trucks and the Pathfinder/Sentra for Cup. Honda only has the CRV and no Truck rep
As an Indycar fan, I don’t want to lose them. If they could do both, sure, but Indycar can’t lose them.
I doubt they’d pull out of IndyCar.
It wouldn’t surprise me if Honda does enter NASCAR and if that is the case, I have a feeling that Stewart Haas Racing would be the leading candidate for Honda’s First NASCAR team considering their current relationship with Ford
It be like JGR and Pontiac all over again
@@S.K.R.E.Inc. Talk about coming full circle Considering how Tony Stewart’s Cup Series career began
I believe Dale Jr. will be involved with the SHR team for 2025. Ford contract is up after 2024.
I hope they stay in Indycar. That would be a huge blow to the sport if they leave.
well, honda’s already announced more plans for f1, as their 2026 catalog there consists of being the supplier of aston martin in conjunction with the new engine regulations for that year. more could come for them on that front but that in itself is big, especially considering how well aston improved y-o-y from ’22 to ’23. it’ll be a big project for honda with them.
so, with that in mind, it’s interesting for their potential nascar efforts & indycar involvement. it’s important indycar starts marketing itself better and growing the sport so that honda can see a return on investment. indycar is the overshadowed motorsport in america right now so it’s vital that they do something to improve that situation. as mentioned, nascar’s tv deal & upcoming charter agreement could lay the groundwork for a diversion from those efforts should they go awry. that being said, a best-case scenario for me as a motorsport enthusiast is to see honda increase their investment in indycar whist joining nascar as a new oem, alongside their aston martin goals in f1
I think if they do pull out of Indy car. Then they would probably most likely at least give NASCAR a look. Maybe increase funding in F1. Maybe start out as one car team if they do decide to join. But I don’t really know what to expect at this rumor or speculation.
I’d like to see it. I was always skeptical when Toyota first came in but it grew on me. A fourth brand would be cool. I even think they could tweak the All-star format with a foreign (Toyota/Honda) vs American (Ford/Chevy) type stipulation with enough buy in. I grew up with Dodge and Pontiac so more manufacturers is fun and like seeing the different bodystyles.
