This season is shaping up to be one of the best in recent history

I highly doubt it because of the stupid scheduled stage cautions low hp playoffs format limited practice and only 36 car fields for most races 2016 was the last true great full memorable season of cup racing and before that 2014 so who even knows

They’re still far away on their short track package. Too many snoozer races throughout the schedule.

If you’ve ever been to a Michigan Speedway race that has went the distance, without a caution. You will appreciate the stages. Between the Michigan race and Jeff Burton’s domination at Loudon, without a caution. Those were some of the most boring races ever. There’s been a couple caution free races with the stages. And it does add something to the race.

@TheSilverBullet40  even my dad who’s been watching for yrs since cale Yarbrough thought the Sonoma race was boring and suggested they should bring back the stages

I could see a Spire driver making the playoffs especially with 6 superspeedway races where especially LaJoie is usually in contention in the closing laps. I feel if no one plans on selling charters going forward that Nascar may add a couple more at least especially for smaller teams like 23XI that may want to expand in the near future. Finally I think Matty D’s Nascar prospects and opportunities are running out and a lot of it is on how he burns bridges with teams when he thinks he is above them.

Matty D is one of those Christians who think they are above everyone.

@TriplePProductionz January 19, 2024 at 10:53 pm

I dont see how nascar could add more charters without expanding the field back to 43 cars at least. If nascar adds 2 more charters, that only leaves 2 spots for open cars as it stands

I’ll always continue to follow NASCAR, only because I love racing. But the days of actually being a fan of NASCAR has since dwindled. I mean I just can’t get that hyped up over a more expensive, more hyped up version of the Craftsman truck series.

As someone that lives close and couldn’t go down Sunday, not only am I super excited that I can go on Saturday, but now I’ll probably bring some non NASCAR friends because why wouldn’t they go, it’s free!

I actually just made a comment about the second-half of yours lol….I don’t think NASCAR is taking advantage of a “free day of racing”…Its literally marketing gold…they are delivering the sport to a crowd of people who have maybe NEVER seen a NASCAR race and have nothing to loose sense its free.

@JBAlternate January 19, 2024 at 10:01 pm

I said this when the fanless heats issue came up, but Milwaukee had free entry the day before the races and it was an awesome thing to do for the community. You could go and watch practice, and I think ARCA qualifying for free. I can’t believe they did it for The Clash heats! That’s great. I hope people take advantage. I wish it was easier to open up practice and qualifying for free for all races. You get a taste and you might be inclined to come back for the race.

The fact that they owned that mistake says a lot. Also, it coincides with the weekend that public transportation is free (in LA), which makes it better because more money for food. Also, note that SoCal is NASCAR’s most coveted market after the SoUS, it would be dumb to leave it after so much effort, especially after so many attempts including a snoozeville conversion of the (former) California/Auto Club Speedway. Depending on how it goes, it can go for another year or 2, or the track will be ready by next year

@josephharrison5639 January 19, 2024 at 10:10 pm

I kinda what them to try and hold the clash at more college stadiums, especially in untapped markets, Folsom field in Boulder Colorado, husky stadium in Seattle, maybe even some Canadian or Mexican stadiums. I think this is a great way to test the waters for new markets

It’s a little hard to hold in Canada in February or even Seattle because of the temperatures and the weather. Are you looking for the snow bunny 500? Or even the freezing 500?

Reply
@josephharrison5639 January 20, 2024 at 12:40 am

@@johnhaas2523 as someone from Seattle, the vast majority of the time there’s little to no snow in February, Colorado is where it’d be trickier. But a snow race for exhibitions does sound fun

The free admission is a good move to try to get new butts in seats moving forward. They should do the same for any/all practices and qualifying for Cup

I’m in the camp that the 2 Kauling cup cars will be racing under the Trackhouse banner in the 25 season and Kauling will function as the Xfinity team for Trackhouse, much like the HMS/JRM relationship. I have seen it this way for the last couple of weeks. Justin Marks keep bringing drives into the TH stable, he has a plan for them, and I doubt it is to build some elses organization

@ba97racing January 20, 2024 at 12:27 am

Looking at the schedule for Saturday and Sunday, they have a 45 minute window slotted for the Heats. Sunday they have a 3 and a half hour window from gates opening to the first on track action. I find it hard to believe they couldn’t have made that work. It’s great that they made Saturday free, but if I bought a ticket for Sunday id love to see as much on track action as I could.

In the near future I expect to see a powerful 4 Car Trackhouse Team with Chastain, SVG, Z.Smith and Zilisch (And Kaulig remaining as the feeder team in Xfinity)

I am sitting here listening to you on your great show. I check “out of the Groove” every evening.
Tonight I am wearing my Corey LaJoie hat. Yes Corey can win in other series as he has fast equipment! This is what he is missing good fast competitive equipment. His ability to drive to me has never been in question. His strategy gets him up front (like he did a couple of years ago at Michigan.) He just did not have the equipment to stay there.

I remember slapshoes had this idea and I’d love to see it. Apparently a modified race track was made on the backstretch of Daytona and it was cool. It would be a great way to bring back speedweeks and still have the 1/4 mile bull ring brawl

The UNOH battle at the beach. That would be the perfect way to kick off Speedweeks and bring it back to Daytona without taking it on the Superspeedway.
