Maybe NASCAR should consider holding the Daytona 500 somewhere else, where it doesn’t rain so much.

Or on another date. They may need to move it to the week after this or before the Super Bowl because this date isn;t working anymore. There has only been a few sunny Daytona 500s in the 2010’s and I feel like it all got started in 2009 when Matt Kenseth since then there has been a delay in the Daytona 500 every couple of years, not in 2015, 2016, or 2018 but in this era they start the race so late and have so much pre-race fluff that it always seems to rain when they hold the race so late in the day. I liked it better when it was at 12 noon. You knew when it was, now racing has become procedural and formulaic and sometimes I don’t get what I used to out of it.

How can you have the Daytona 500 somewhere else other than DAYTONA BEACH? some of you guys rational thinking skills are really lacking. You can’t move this race and take it away from sppedwewks and all that comes with this historic race.

@evanwilliams6406 100% agree! At least start it by 1pm, these 230 and 300 pm eastern time starts are crazy! I go to Poconos every year and the race doesn’t start into almost 3pm. I used to he home by 630 back in the day. Now I don’t get home until after 9pm. Nascar only thinks about themselves for a lot of things now.

@@rebelsoul5980 NASCAR thinks about TV ratings, and the most prime time to stage the race for TV. While it’s good practice for the TV business, they don’t appear to have learned anything over the years…..that it rains a lot in the last afternoon on the Florida Atlantic Coast.

I liked the trucks better. ARCA was ok.

Also What if Mark Martin didn’t slow down coming to the finish in 07

2012 was my favorite Monday 500. I got to stay up and watch even though I had school in the morning

It’s time for a retractable canvas roof at Daytona

That would be awesome! So sick of rain messing with Nascar.

It’s Mother Nature, deal with it.

At this point NASCAR should just schedule the races for Monday and start early if the weather allows it.

@rebelsoul5980 February 19, 2024 at 11:47 am

Or Saturday and give each series an extra day. Trucks on Thursday, xfinity on Friday, and cup on Saturday’s. This way it opens up Sunday as well if needed and Monday!

At this point, u have to be an absolute idiot to buy a ticket for the 500! Especially if ur traveling from out of town. U have about a 25% chance of actually seeing it live smh

About your thoughts of changing your outlook on Nascar after 2020 Newman’s crash. As an 11 year old watching the 2001 race, I still get PTSD anytime I see a car going head on into the wall. Blaneys been giving me some serious PTSD the past two time at Daytona
