The NBC/USA Network broadcast of this race did everything FOX could never do in one race that was fun to watch great Iowa debut

Agreed! Also I loved the extended post race coverage with more driver interviews and analysis

It’s clear Fox has taken a door open dook on NASCAR… Wonder why they renewed for 7 years.

And they lost track of every overtake that was happening on track. At least significant. You joking right?

Pretty much, if this was the gen 6 car chase would probably be up there with Byron, Hamlin, and Larson with 3 wins. I still think Chase gets no less then 3 wins before season ends and final 4 but still that Average Finish is Money

Man that was a better race than I thought. That was probably one of the best short track races in the next gen era that I’ve watched. There was a lot more passing than I thought considering the comments Christopher Bell made. I felt like there was no dominant groove, which was fun to watch, not to mention the amazing NBC coverage. As a diehard Penske fan, A great start to the month of June. 85% on the groovy gauge.
P.S I will say, in stage 2, NASCAR throwing that caution for Daniel Hemric hitting the wall out of turn 2 when others hit the wall as well earlier was super crap. Adam Stevens was 100% right with what he said on the radio.

Something worthy of note: Chase Elliott is quietly putting together a 2003 Matt Kenseth average finish of 9.11. The next best average finish is William Byron and Ross Chastain tied at 12.47.

Reply
@jeremyharper3462 June 17, 2024 at 2:55 pm

@Untoastedbagel1271 he really hasn’t been that good at all. It’s been a miserable season. He won’t make the playoffs at this rate. I blame his crew chief. He regularly makes bad, overly conservative calls that keep him out of stage points and ends in a 8th-15th place finish

@lewishamilton271 June 17, 2024 at 4:37 am

It was nice to see multiple camera angles on screen at once. And when they wanted to show the crowd, NBC put them in the corner so we didn’t miss any racing.

Todd gilliland is having the best season of his cup career and he’s 20th in points, he’s so underrated I feel like no one ever talks about him or how good he has done this year.

Best season of career being a 20th place run doesn’t really scream “underrated”.

Really hated that “Caution” in Stage 2. The race should have been Blaney vs Bell on the long run at the end but Bell had to much track position to make up.

Reply
@nigel0 June 17, 2024 at 4:53 am

That questionable Hemric caution really put Bell in a tough spot. Very impressive 4th place run in a backup car.

For someone who talked about how hard he’s worked and how much he risked to go back to the truck series to get into the Toyota pipeline, Nemechek is really making himself look like a contender in the truck series again next year.

I saw a fair amount of comments on X from people who say they don’t like Steve Letarte. Unless you want to watch the race will no sense of strategy or understanding of why the cars are driving how they are, I don’t understand that. Letarte does an excellent job explaining the decisions made by the crew chiefs in a way that keeps a long time fan engaged and informs a newer fan who may not understand what they are seeing.

Reply
@shannon3n8 June 17, 2024 at 1:22 pm

Give me Steve Letarte every day and 8 times on Sunday COMPARED to Larry Mac – aka Mouth of the South. Yes, Letarte still has bias for HMS employees (crew chiefs, engineers etc) but my God he is nowhere nearly as grating as “America’s Crew Chief’.
