Austin Dillon may have claimed the win, but something unbelieveable might happen at this weeks penalty report

That SMT data is bad news for Dillon. That’s for sure.

@limprooster3253 August 13, 2024 at 4:48 pm

@@jamiethornton6101there’s nothing controversial in that smt data. The lap before, Dillon was clear on both sides and took a wide exit. His car was slightly loose so you have a bit of right hand steering in it on corner exit.

Next lap he sends it in to get to Joeys bumper. Because his entry was way too aggressive he is now behind the corner so to speak. The car tried to overshoot. So now he’s tight which, AND he has Denny to his inside. So to try to make the corner, as well as take away the 11s exit, he cranks a ton of left hand steer in it. That’s not to say the wreck wasn’t intentional, but this is a completely plausible explanation for the difference in SMT data between laps.

@@limprooster3253 You’re delusional. The SMT data proves Dillion did nothing to avoid Hamlin and went straight into him.

When I was 8 years old I had my pogs stolen out of my cubby at school. I confronted the kid who stole them. The teacher, faced with a he said he said chose to take the and put them in her desk. Next day on the bus the kid had my pogs. The teacher believed him and gave them back to him at the end of class. I was so mad. I hit him and hit him again didn’t stop till I was on top of him and had my pogs back. The fight gets broken up I had my pogs back for all of a second. The cops were called to the bus. I was detained till my parents got thare. I as Expelled for a year and told I could be charged with mugging this kid. not only did that kid get to steal my stuff with out getting in trouble but I was in deep trouble for “stealing” them back. Basically was suspended for a year for mugging a kid who took my stuff. I feel for joey but once your in the hole you got to accept you lost already and stop digging.

NASCAR has made their bed with the playoffs, and they have to accept how absolutely ridiculous this is getting. Every year, this just ramps up until eventually we’re full on bumper cars no holds barred.

They could change it, but the networks unfortunately play a role, Jimmie Johnson played a role, but this is a product of the system,

I understand Logano’s frustration but as a Logano fan, he should be penalized. We have a precedent, that said we should not have people on pit road that soon afterwards. We’ve had so many driver incidents on pit road it’s insane NASCAR allows people to be on a hot pit road. It’s like nascar forgets about safety before an incident happens

Must say that NASCAR needs to change their pit road procedure before somebody gets hurt. But NASCAR doesn’t make common sense changes until somebody gets hurt or worse (hans device and Earmhardt, new saftey after Newman’s Daytona wreck)

As for this situation.
Enforce in the infield to then. if the issue is because incidents happen on pit road, then enforce it on the infield as well. Logano used the car as a weapon, he used it to show his frustration towards Austin’s pits, what if he went behind the wall with it. That would be ridiculous and unlikely, but is possible, just like what Logano did. Logano was supposed to follow single file down pit road, but didn’t. Saying pit road has to be clear won’t fix the root cause of this situation. The Fault is all on Logano, he is responsible for driving down pit road with caution for the safety of other drivers and officials. NASCAR wasn’t in control of that car, Logano was. If Logano went to the infield and wrecked it into a hauler. Is it still NASCAR’s fault for not having barriers set up? No, which is why the drivers need to be banned for the season when performing this kind of conduct on pit road.

Half these people would NOT be on pit road, trying to cross pit road if the winner went to victory lane instead of doing the stupid burn out and interview at the start/finish line.

@dshih199 August 13, 2024 at 4:29 pm

unrelated but my proposed playoff format:
top 8 in reg season standings are locked in based on points.
9-10 are the “wildcards” and are determined by wins with the cutoff at 15th. (you must be top 15 in points to have a chance at a wildcard spot essentially).
in the playoffs, the bottom 5 drivers are eliminated after the first 5 races. The remaining five have the last 5 races to battle it out.
Only thing I keep the same are the bonus points for wins/stage wins and being the reg season points leader.

This awards consistency so someone from 30th in the standings doesn’t have a chance even if winning a race. For those who LOVE win and your in, you still have a taste of that in the wildcard battle from 8th-15th. Shortening the playoff field makes it difficult to get in as it should be, and generates storylines either with massive upsets or big miracle seasons. And of course, no more of that 1 race to decide it all nonsense.

I think Reddick could easily make an argument for top of the Power Rankings. If he takes the lead or even just does better than Larson at Michigan, there’s no way he doesn’t move ahead of him.

Bring the TV broadcast celebration back to Victory Lane and NOT the Start/Finish line. This would help curb those wanting to go into pit lane.

Thoughts for the penalties that should be appointed. Joey should get (in my opinion) fine around $50,000, possible owner points, and a race or two suspension. He’s already in the round of 16, gotta be aware and watching. And on account of Dillon he need what they’ve given out for right rears, $50,000 solid, no win removal or point fines. Not a fan of Dillon and never really cared about Joey

On point there, Joey should face a bigger penalty than what Dillon should face if he was penalized.
