Peterson Racing could be preparing for a bigger 2027 NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series program, and a new rumor has put four drivers in the conversation for just two potential seats.
According to the trusted NASCAR-focused Instagram account Stock Car Rumors & Nostalgia, the four names being discussed are Nick Sanchez, Daniel Dye, Josh Berry and Kaden Pulliam. The account wrote that it had heard those four names connected to the two Peterson Racing cars planned for 2027, while also making clear that nothing is set in stone yet.
And there is enough recent movement around Peterson Racing to make the speculation worth watching.

Nick Sanchez looks like the obvious name
Sanchez already has a connection with Peterson Racing.
After AM Racing ended its O’Reilly Series operation earlier this season, Sanchez joined Peterson for a limited run in the №87 Chevrolet. The original deal covered four races, and the team later added another five events to his schedule.
The extra races came after Sanchez nearly won at EchoPark Speedway. He was fighting for the victory on the final lap before an incident dropped him to 19th.
That kind of performance could make Sanchez a natural candidate for a full-time 2027 seat.
Peterson Racing has also openly talked about growing its operation. When Sanchez joined the team, crew chief Jody Measamer said the organization was in a growth process and had its sights on becoming a multi-car operation.
That is important because the latest rumor specifically concerns two cars.

Three other names are in the mix
Daniel Dye is another name attached to the rumor. His backing could make him an attractive option if Peterson Racing needs additional funding to support an expanded program.
Josh Berry would bring something completely different: experience. With his future in the Cup Series changing for 2027, a move back into the O’Reilly Series could give Peterson an experienced driver capable of helping a developing organization.
Then there is Kaden Pulliam, who would represent the younger option. A developing driver alongside someone such as Sanchez or Berry could give Peterson Racing a balance between experience and potential.
But there is one noticeable omission from the rumor: Austin Green.
Green began 2026 as Peterson Racing’s full-time №87 driver. NASCAR’s own 2025–26 Silly Season coverage confirmed that Green was set to run the full 2026 O’Reilly Series schedule with the organization.
Sanchez’s arrival changed that arrangement, with the two drivers sharing the №87 during the season. Current O’Reilly Series driver information still lists Green and Sanchez with Peterson Racing.
For now, there is no official confirmation that Sanchez, Dye, Berry or Pulliam has signed with Peterson Racing for 2027. The strongest confirmed piece is that Peterson has already shown an interest in expanding its operation, while Sanchez has become increasingly involved with the team during 2026.
If Peterson really does move to two full-time cars next season, the four rumoured names could be worth keeping an eye on.
