@Walter Cole made Chad begin to suck lol. Yeah Chad won his championships when he had no competition, but when Cole Pearn came in and changed the game, Chad couldn’t keep up. Sent him into retirement.

Not telling him that he was on scuffs is ridiculous by the crew chief
Truex is the kind of driver who can race with scuffs, but he needs to know that he is on scuffs.

@4iiiieyes exactly he could have altered his line, asjusted where he is letting off and picking up the throttle. I mean the shot to win was lost but he could have stayed in the top 10 for sure. Small needs to go and I don’t see how Truex can trust him going forward.

Truex is my favorite driver and hearing this is sad. Truex needs a new crew chief. I can’t believe James didn’t tell him he didn’t have fresh tires on his car, then say there was no point in telling him. There ain’t no excuse for that!

I was watching the race and you could see the crew ready to install the scuffs on the 19.
I almost broke my tv threw a beer outside cause Larry McReynolds kept saying Truex only has 7 laps scuffs damm caution ruined it, Truex is a damm good racer I don’t want him to retire

As if the crap we had to deal with at Fontana wasn’t bad enough. Whole pit crew needs to be evaluated at this point but start with the Chief. Such a great start to season too.
Small is kind of showing us all that there is a difference between a car chief and a crew chief… not just this one event but the whole time he has been the crew chief has been a mess.
Dale and Kelley need to hurry up and get a cup team going, and Truex the driver!

Would have been nice to know how hard he could go into turn one and still have some control of the car, don’t cha’ think?
Because the job of the crew chief is the spike him up not tell him he’s gonna fall back if the driver thinks he can do it he probably can do it
Hell fire you gotta tell him he’s on scuffs so he can drive like he’s on scuffs.
Shows that having a guy like Cole Pearn on the box can do for a driver. I can’t blame Martin for being upset that he didn’t know that he was on scuffs. That’s inexcusable. You got to let your driver know that, so he can drive the car accordingly.
“There’s no point in telling you, we were F’ed either way” is the worst excuse I’ve ever heard.
Like Kyle in his last couple of years with JGR, Truex is just not gelling anymore with his crew chief and team. They need to make a big internal change now if he’s going to do anything this season.
Trust is THE most important thing between driver and crew chief. That has been blown up in an instant now
