Tell me how in the hell that was Cindric’s fault? Dillon wrecked himself…

Cindric turned down the track into Dillon. Of course, he didn’t do it on purpose and Dillon was moving up, but Cindric did turn down the track and hook him, even if it wasn’t on purpose.

@ car did nothing wrong – Austin drifted up, easy no call.

They wrecked each other let’s move on the past

Exactly. I said that from the start, and I’m glad that NASCAR made the right call!

@HN9but the 3 came up as well so wouldn’t it be just as much on the 3 car as the 2? Neither car held their line. Seems to me its 50/50

I can understand why Chase got penalized. This incident wasn’t as bad as his left hook that he did.

Reply
Robert Stone June 6, 2023 at 1:34 pm

The three-car came up into the two as much as the two came down into the three that’s just a racing deal

Aaron Talks Culture June 6, 2023 at 1:44 pm

The replay starting at 0:26 clearly shows Dillon drifting up the track. It’s incidental contact.

Jeffrey Snipes June 6, 2023 at 2:35 pm

The data shows #2, turning left on the straightway…

Reply
Aaron Talks Culture June 6, 2023 at 2:41 pm

@Jeffrey Snipes I believe the 2 probably only turned left after the 3 drove into him. Without correcting the wheel to the left he would crash also. You can see the 3 drift into him with the naked eye.

Jeffrey Snipes June 6, 2023 at 2:47 pm

@Aaron Talks Culture I’m simply going by the data, but I do know #2 was upset for a situation that occured about , 6 laps earlier.
Cendic had doored Dillion, afterwards. I’m not concern over the lack of a call, simply the inconsistency within presenting the data.
If nascar’s going use data, they simply need to rely that , consistently and not ignore the similarities.
Personally , I rather they not use the data, but it’s not my call.

Aaron Talks Culture June 6, 2023 at 2:55 pm

@Jeffrey Snipes I understand your point. I think the digital data is just 1 tool they use.

Reply
Jeffrey Snipes June 6, 2023 at 3:03 pm

@Aaron Talks Culture I agree, but the data is at forefront of the conversation.
By all intent, what was said is inaccurate..
The data is similar to last week.. so where exactly is the line between drivers settling things themselves vs nascar stepping in.
Basically when is turning left, too much in other words.

beep boop June 6, 2023 at 1:47 pm

it’s good that the line can be drawn between what’s clearly a racing deal and purposefully turning someone into the wall

You need to be consistent NASCAR!

Reply
JayDee June 6, 2023 at 2:11 pm

Wdym? Dillon came down, Cindric came up. Racing incident, nothing intentional

Reply
Robert Stone June 6, 2023 at 2:19 pm

@JayDeeother way around but yeah

Reply
Jeffrey Snipes June 6, 2023 at 2:22 pm

@JayDee the data shows the #2 turned left, down the straightway, just not at the angle chase did.
That said, if nascar going use data to determine these situations, they need be consistent when doing so..
Personally , they should simply use the eye test ,and leave data outta the equation, but not my choice .
Without the data, id say no discipline, with it however , hard to ignore , that it lines up , with Chase /Hamlin situation.

@Jeffrey Snipes technically, there wasnt any smt data at the track. know your stuff buddy

Reply
JBtheExplorer2 June 6, 2023 at 3:10 pm

Luckily, they are. Because penalizing this move would NOT be consistent. Plus, it was Dillon’s fault.

Right call

Elton Sawyer is THE MAN for this job. When he says something, you can rest assured that he knows what he’s talking about. Not that it matters, but the video here proves he made the right call.

Tristin471 June 6, 2023 at 2:18 pm

This is the right call. No part of that wreck looked intentional, and I can’t believe the number of people that said it did.

Reply
Momentum Racing June 6, 2023 at 2:54 pm

Me either. Fans are stupid sometiems and thats what got me so pissed off

Reply
Tristin471 June 6, 2023 at 3:02 pm

@Momentum Racing Plus you had A. Dillion, Stenhouse, Childress, and Hamlin that said it was intentional.

Reply
Jeffrey Snipes June 6, 2023 at 3:45 pm

It was intentional.. it just wasn’t careless.

Reply
RSviking June 6, 2023 at 5:14 pm

@Tristin471 Hamlin says everything is intentional unless he did it

Reply
tAmEz ZoDiAc June 6, 2023 at 5:46 pm

Because it’s not about intent, it’s about safety, and drivers keeping their head on their soldiers. You can’t allow this. It’s unacceptable. Accidents can hurt, and kill too. Just look at Newman, even though that was entirely on Newman as he blocked, but still, when you ribe down the straight away hooking someone, then that’s unacceptable, accident, or not. The only time it should be is if a part on a car fails, but this is the exact problem with nascar. We have people racing each other over the limit of room all the time with 0 regard to that limit. It’s why we have seen si many accidental unnecessary crashes, like with drivers like Ross. Accidentally fencing people should gain you a drive through penalty alone imo, and it’s bs you can get away with it. It make sense to have a 2 strike rule, or 3, but if you fence someone 3 times, then that’s a driver through. I like Kyle Busch, but Charlotte is a great example of how drivers have no regard of the limit and he fenced several guys, and then almost guy internally hooked my Ricky, but saved it. If nascar wants to stop this rr hooking bs, then you have to penalize before it ever gets that far, and penalize the agressor. For example, chase said Denny ran into him 3 times if I recall, if that is true, then it would’ve been solved before chase hooked him, and he probably ran someone into the wall before that on accident at some point, so it’s likely it never would’ve went this far. Denny did it on accident and we can’t blame him for driving like that because look at the bs he dealt with last year, but this bs situation could’ve been avoided, and the whole “rubbing is racing” spew is blown too far out of proportion. I dont care if Dale Sr sent someone into the stands at one time, it’s old, and it should’ve been solved long ago to have a happy medium, and not extremes like 2015 Martinsville for example, or harvick at Dega that same year.

People really need to take their “my guy” glasses off when looking at these things and the calls would make more sense to them.

Full race probably comes out tonight or tomorrow. They legally have to wait a certain amount of time after the initial broadcast to post it.

I would like to see the smt data on that NASCAR

Reply
JBtheExplorer2 June 6, 2023 at 3:08 pm

It’s a racing incident. We see these happen every single week. Not payback, even subtly or blatantly. AND every time I watch, it’s clear that Dillon drifts up.

Reply
James Zeigler June 6, 2023 at 5:25 pm

You look at it from another angle and cindric is clearly coming down…

Reply
JBtheExplorer2 June 6, 2023 at 5:29 pm

@James Zeigler I didn’t say Cindric wasn’t coming down. He was. and Dillon was drifting up. Like I said: It’s a racing incident. It’s a non-story and something that happens weekly. I’ve never seen so much discussion over something so small. :’D

Chase Barrett June 6, 2023 at 3:28 pm

NASCAR, as long as you let the drivers fight (willing) on pit row afterwards we’re OK with the penaltys bring them on.

Reply
Allen Andres June 6, 2023 at 3:34 pm

Denny Hamlin has the data and the 2 also turned into the 3, he fn hooked him and because it’s not a Hendrick Motorsports driver nothing happens it’s bulls@3t. Come on NASCAR be consistent suspend everybody that hook people or nobody

Reply
cupchamp5 June 6, 2023 at 3:39 pm

Cindric won’t be penalized. Dillon not happy. Does Hamlin know about this? The Director of driver discipline might appeal.

alpha racing league June 6, 2023 at 3:55 pm

Be consistent he did the same bs chase did last week

Reply
Peter Brownless June 6, 2023 at 4:43 pm

Right call NASCAR. Two drivers both edging into the same space unaware of each others intentions is how I read it. At Freeway speed Average Joe would stand a chance of avoiding contact, very small margins at race speed though.
