I don’t think Haley will go back to Spire, He seems too loyal there.

I have also seen coaches say the only way they leave a place is in a pine box. So loyalty isn’t a thing anymore

“I’m not sure it’s the right decision but it’s the best decision” is a bizarre way to phrase that. He’s acting like he’s between a rock and a hard place as if there weren’t a dozen free agent drivers to choose from.

To me, it makes it sound like they dumped lajoie because someone offered them alot of money to put someone else in the car. Just an opinion

“I’m not sure it was the right decision” my brother in christ, you made the decision!

I completely disagree with the decision to drop lajoie he has been a fundamental cornerstone for that team without him they would still be a backmarker hes been very good at not tesring up equipment in the past and getting what the car can get pair that with McDowell who does similar and you have a great team to build into the future
I think people are too quick to turn against people coreys having a bad seasons so is kyle busch and the fact that people are already calling him washed people were beggin haas to get preece in the 41 and turned against him in 1 season people were saying nick de vries was a future super star and he didnt even get a full season
I just dont understand why people get in up in arms so quickly and want drivers out after a bad season

It would be hilarious to see Haley replace LaJoie in the 7 after his Spire comments (specifically the 2019 Coke Zero Sugar 400 win) on his podcast.

Rule #1 in business: the customer is always right
Rule #2 in business: never fire your guy until you have a better guy lined up to replace him…
Getting rid of LaJoie did make sense, but only assuming there was another guy, with a higher ceiling, waiting in line. It doesn’t sound like that is the case, and now Spire might be forced into getting a throw away driver for at least 1 year until better prospects become available.

Guess they had unforeseen consequences coming up when they listen to Fan pressure and fired Corey prematurely. Whoops.

I seen one rumour where people were thinking BJ McLeod to the 7 car.

Justin haley is the most underrated driver in the series. Put him at Hendrick, JGR Penske he’s a multi time winner every year Contending for championships. I like cory but justin is definitely a upgrade. If he ever got a shot
with a top tier team the industry would see what they’ve been missing.

Hell, Haley has even made Rick Ware’s #51 somewhat competitive

@OneWiseGuy August 8, 2024 at 4:38 pm

Haley to the 7 Corey to the 51 hence the real win comment

From his response i think Its the sponsorship. Gamebridge made the call.

I still say Suarez is the dark horse for the seat. Trackhouse loves him, but they probably don’t like him all that much after a disappointing season. They have a working relationship with Spire already, so sending him there would still be keeping him “in the family” as it were, and it would open up the 99 for SVG.

Sounds like Spire had a plan for the 7 then it blew up at the last minute.

4:59 I keep hearing Justin Haley to the 7?

I always figured it was Andretti coming to replace him

@1870offroad August 8, 2024 at 5:33 pm

I see you’ve heard the same

@BlessYourHeart13 August 8, 2024 at 4:59 pm

Justin Hailee used to race for Spire. He won their only win in the 77 Chevy at Daytona.

Reply
@BlessYourHeart13 August 8, 2024 at 4:59 pm

Justin isn’t going back to Spire.

Reply
@18S12 August 8, 2024 at 5:12 pm

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with Jeff being honest. Corey isn’t just a driver at Spire; he has poured years of sweat equity building Spire along with those individuals and clearly there are moral and ethical questions that are going to come up whenever a founding member of an organization is fired.

Reply
@1870offroad August 8, 2024 at 5:32 pm

My question is where does Corey go?
It’s so late in the season, I doubt there’s any cup seats open.

Whoever takes the 7 will be available. Maybe a team buying a charter, signs him for a short term deal to finish races, save equipment, and overcome the cost of expansion…

But I’d still want to get in a car that can win if I was him, that’ll be in a lower series
